FREE Query Workbook
Most of my clients (many of them skilled writers) ask me to help them write query letters that will result in invitations to submit their manuscripts to agents/editors.
Although they've read how-to articles and blogs, they can't quite figure out how to adapt that information as they attempt to write their query. This is not unusual.
I’ve never met anyone who could read about writing a query letter, then sit down and write one. Reading about queries doesn't do it. What's missing are writing exercises, practice and an expert instructor. (That would be me.)
This is why I'm writing QUERY LETTER WORKSHOP, based on a format I developed teaching writers at UCLA and in writers’ workshops/conferences around the country.
You can receive a 31 page mini-version of this workbook absolutely FREE.
The step-by-step instructions and exercises can help you learn to write a compelling query letter first paragraph (often the only paragraph read by an agent).
As a bonus, by requesting the workbook, you'll be notified when subsequent workbooks become available.
FIRST PARAGRAPHS THAT WORK
Fiction/Fantasy/Sci Fi
A young woman, days away from her 21st birthday, heads for spring break with college friends. But, instead of celebrating, she’s rushed to the emergency room when unexplainable physical changes begin. Blood tests reveal she’s morphing from human to vampire, not by being bitten, but because of genetic predisposition.
Fiction/Mid Grade
A 12-year old techno-geek, while developing a holographic computer program to bring fairy tales to life, taps into a dimension where historical conquerors run amuck. Accidentally he merges the two worlds. While struggling to separate them, he’s sucked into the hologram and a situation where he must prevent Little Red Riding Hood and her Granny from being enslaved by Attila the Hun, which will result in corrupting not only the story of Little Red, but history as well.
